On Saturday, June 26th 2010, The MCA will be hosting a Novice Chess Tournament.Registration from 9:15 a.m. to 9:50 a.m
The session will start at 10 AM in room 5L24 at the University of Winnipeg.
This will be for beginners and novices. Stephen will also hold a brief session at 10 am. "Tournament Chess 101", to review some of the customs standard to tournament chess, such as use of the clock, and recording of moves.
The tournament will be for ages 16+
Sorry to those of you juniors who do not qualify.
The general consensus was that this should be geared towards adults returning to the game of chess.
Anyone with a CFC rating under 1400 is welcome.
Number of games will depend on participants.
Expectation is 6 games....Time control will be G/25 (25 minutes for
each player).
