Jeff Babb won the 2009 Mike Shpan Memorial with an undefeated 5-1.

Waldemar Schulz took clear second with an undefeated 4.5-1.5.  I had fully expected these two players to be paired in the last round, but apparently it was not to be.

Arwin Dawa defeated Jonathon Zaczek to join him at 4-2 and 3rd/4th place.

in both games, White was obliterated.

As soon as that game ended, Lipnowski offered Kaptsan a draw as all placings were set, with Lipnowski taking first with an undefeated 4.5, Boron second with 3.5.

This very competitive section was unclear until the final games were played; Stephen Lipic fought back to win in his Round 6 game to emerge with 4-2, half point ahead of Steven deGroot.
