Tayo-Jones, L. Gibbons COMMENT: The May TNT ended with a three-way tie for first place, with Samuel Lipnowski, Alex Nikouline, and Trevor Vincent all scoring 3.5/4. Also noteworthy was newcomer Arvin Dawa's going through the tournament without loss, two draws and two wins for a final score of 3/4. Upsets!--there were a couple this round: On board thirteen Francis Trueman upheld the cunning of the senior set, while Sashika Kumaragamage made the case for the cadets on board eleven. As perhaps suits the time of year, none of the games was right for a brilliancy prize, and more than the usual number were decided by blunders. Something spring-fever-ish in the air? Or a touch of the swine flu? But here and there, in patches, some interesting chess.
