The Manitoba team finished in a solid 5th place at the Canadian Chess Challenge in Toronto this weekend, with 57.0 points (out of a possible 108.0), 10.5 points ahead of New Brunswick and the same placing as last year. Congratulations to Ryne Swift for winnning the silver medal in grade 5 with 7.0 points (out of possible 9) and Daniel Oberton for winning the bronze in grade 11 with 6.0 points. We also had four students place fourth in their grades, including Theo Wolchock (grade 1) with 6.5 points, Ethan Lin (grade 2) with 6.5, Justin Lin (grade 4) with 5.5 and Leor Wasserman (grade 7) with 5.5. Good show, Manitoba!
