Following last year's success, the Manitoba Chess Association is pleased to once again bring you Chess in the Park.  The first Chess in the Park blitz tournament of the season is scheduled to take place at noon on Friday, June 6, although the weather forecast doesn't look good, so we can't say for sure whether it will be a go.   We'll decide by 10:00 a.m.

The tournament will be held every Friday at noon until the end of August.   It will be held in Merchant Park, which is on the south side of Portage Ave., across from Portage Place between Edmonton St. and Kennedy St.   The tournament will start promptly at noon.   Registration is from 11:30 to 11:55.  Games will be 5 minutes per player.   The tournament will be 4 or 5 rounds, depending on the number of players.  Entry is free and prizes will be awarded.   All players, including beginners are welcome to join us.

Chess in the Park is sponsored by Downtown Winnipeg BIZ and local merchants.   Prizes for the first tournament are sponsored by ADL Optical.

Also, throughout the summer (starting on June 10), Jonathon Zaczek will be at the Park every Tuesday and Thursday from noon to 4:00 p.m., as an ambassador for chess, teaching and promoting the game.   Please feel free to drop by and have a game.
