New!    January 2, 2009: The next regular tournament will be on January 18, 2009 at the University of Winnipeg, Duckworth Centre, Room 2D11. This is a great tournament for both beginners and advanced chess players and will usually only last about 3 hours. It is open to any students from kindergarten to grade 12. Registration is the day of the tournament between 12:15pm and 12:45pm. Everybody plays at least 5 games and there are prizes for the winners in each group. December 18, 2008: Official ratings, top 25 lists, top girls, and top 50 Manitoba players have been updated from the regular December chess tournament.
December 7, 2008: Tournament results from the December 7, 2008 regular tournament have been posted. Unofficial ratings for this tournament have been calculated. The Grand Prix standings after the regular December tournament have been updated.

June 27, 2008: The dates for the 2008-2009 regular Sunday tournaments have been finalized. Mark your calendars! Be sure to play in as many regular tournaments as you can for a better chance of winning the 2009 grand prix. This year you will get 10 grand prix points just for playing in one of the regular Sunday tournaments.
May 20, 2008: Congratulations to the Manitoba Provincial chess team who played very well at the 2008 Canadian Chess Challenge. Dezhong Kong won 2nd place in grade 3. Michael Pang finished tied for 2nd place, and after the playoff game won 3rd in grade 5. Weixi Liu won 3rd place in grade 11. Trevor Vincent won 2nd place in grade 12. Manitoba took 5th place overall as a team.
