The Kent Oliver Memorial tournament is to be held this weekend (Jan. 11 to 13) in room [5L 24] at the University of Winnipeg. 5 round Swiss. Time Control of 2 hours per player. Entry fee of $25 for adults, $15 for juniors and seniors. Registration at 6:30 p.m. Friday evening with the first round starting at 7:00 p.m.
On Sunday, between the 4th and 5th rounds, the Manitoba Chess Association will hold its annual general meeting. The meeting is open to all members. The agenda will include a review of last year's financial results, election of officers and a discussion of plans for this year. The Junior Chess Club will re-start this Saturday, January 5 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Wii Chiiwaakanak Learning Centre, 511 Ellice Avenue (across the street from the Duckworth Centre). The instructor will be Collin Anderson, who has several years of experience teaching and coaching students. There is no fee. All are welcome to attend. Blair Rutter |

Jason Repa won the blitz tournament tonight scoring 7.5 points out of 10. Samuel Lipnowski was half a point behind. Colin Prince took clear third place and the first U1900 with 6.5 points. Carl Pottinger was second U1900 with 5.5 points. Congratulation to the winners and all the participants. Alex PS I have posted the crosstable of the tournament. |
