2009 Winnipeg Open Active Championship- Sep 20
Written by Tony Boron
Sunday, 20 September 2009
20 players contested the 2009 Winnipeg Open Active Chess Championship in two sections.
Active, in our case, refers to a time control of Game/25 minutes

The six-player Over 1800 section Round-robin was won by Blair Rutter with 4, followed by Waldemar Schulz with 3.5.

The fourteen player  U1800 section was won by the visiting Gregory Iomdina, the father of Bella, with a perfect (but not uneventful) 5-0.  Second was Bella Iomdina with 4, and third was Nathan Wood with 3.5.

The tournament was completed just after 3 p.m. which included a half hour break after round two.  TD Lorne Gibbons.

Thanks to the players who took a break from our unusually warm temperatures.
