It wouldn't be a TNT without a few upsets. Brian Evans upended Jim Green, Keith Czarny scored the full point against Chuck Mousseau, the improving Francis Trueman beat Leor Wasserman, and Trevor Menard drew Richard Ott. | Bd | | | White | | Black | | | 1 | | 1 | Samuel Lipnowski (2254) | | Saul Magnusson (1751) | 0 | | 2 | | 1 | Ryne Swift (1776) | | Perfecto Joven (1830) | 0 | | 3 | | 1 | Stephen Lipic (1799) | | Arie Wasserman (1690) | 0 | | 4 | | 1 | Brian Evans (1591) | | Jim Green (1792) | 0 | | 5 | | 1 | Eric Williams (1551) | | Cory Letain (1596) | 0 | | 6 | | 0 | Chuck Mousseau (1900) | | Keith Czarny (1580) | 1 | | 7 | | 0 | Leor Wasserman (1723) | | Francis Trueman (1499) | 1 | | 8 | | ½ | Richard Ott (1601) | | Trevor Menard (1264) | ½ | | | | ½ | Myron Kernetsky (1975) | | BYE | | | | | ½ | Harley Greenberg (1741) | | BYE | |
FIDE Futurity # 1 Round 2 Zaczek quickly smashed through with a kingside attack, Schulz and Kaptsan showed too much respect for each other (or rather as Aron suggested, neither of them knew what to do), Boron self-destructed in a drawish looking ending, and Babb won two pawns transitioning to an endgame. Zaczek - Lauritson 1-0 Schulz - Kaptsan DRAW Boron - Khedkar 0-1 Babb-Nikouline 1-0 Thanks to Jim Green for opening the room with setup assistance from Brian Evans, and piece bagging from Aron Kaptsan, amongst others. I have posted all games - Thanks to Alex Nikouline, Jonathon Zaczek, Stephen Lipic, Eric Williams, Jim Green, and Greg Swift so sending in their games. But the tournament results page has mysteriously disappeared; I am trying to get it restored. |

The 2010 FIDE Futurity Tournament #1 is an invitational round-robin event with two express purposes: 1. To provide players with an opportunity to obtain a FIDE rating. 2. To provide local experts with a competitive tournament against their peers. The tournament will run alongside the January and February TNTs Participants in tournament # 1 are: Kaptsan Boron Khedkar Lauritson Babb Zaczek Nikouline Schulz
There will several other FIDE Futurities throughout the year - Priority for non-FIDE rated players' participation will be loosely based on: a. Number of FIDE rated games (ie progress towards rating - nine games are required to get a rating) b. CFC rating c. Activity in local tournaments
and of course availability to play in the tournament.
