Downtown Winnipeg Biz will once again be sponsoring Chess in the Park this year which will feature a blitz tournament on Fridays at noon in Merchant Park, starting June 6 and carrying through until the end of August (and possibly the first 2 Fridays in September as well).

The Park is located on the south side of Portage Ave, between Edmonton and Kennedy streets. All are welcome to play. The tournament starts at noon each Friday -- get there at least 5 minutes before noon to register. Entry is free. Games are maximum 5 minutes per player and tournaments are usually 5 rounds.

Initial reports indicate that Jonathan Zaczek will once again be acting as the "chess master" host at the park throughout the summer. Hours: 11am - 5pm (Tuesdays and Thursdays); 12noon - 4pm Saturdays.
